You may be thinking, what’s your roaring 20’s without a plethora of blacked out nights, crazy stories, mornings waking up to hot strangers next to you, and a mouth that smells like liquor mixed with a hue of weed? Well I’m here to tell you that your 20’s can be a lot more. And a lot better.

What many choose not to talk about is the fogged hangover that takes place for the next 1–3 days after getting blacked out or browned out. Did you know that alcohol withdrawal symptoms last for about 3 days after?

People also forget to talk about the awkwardness of talking with the nameless stranger in your bed the next morning. Or the corresponding anxiety attacks that take place while trying to remember if you used a condom or if they told you they had STD’s. Fuck. Do I have AIDS? The anxiety doesn’t leave even though the stranger does and never talks to you again.

The anxiety continues. You remember the taste of weed in your mouth. Where did I get weed? From who? Was it laced? Who the fuck knows what even happened.

This is when sadness sets in. A kind of sadness that stays with you until the next crazy night. Until the next drop of liquor hits your lips and you drink to forget.

Sounds like a great fucking way to live out your 20’s, am I right? Wrong.

This blog, 20-Something & Sober, was started after deciding to get completely sober at 23 years old. No more alcohol. No more drugs.

There were many reasons for turning to sobriety which I’ll talk about in an upcoming post. Does being sober make me boring? I sure as hell hope not. Being sober has given me more personality. Being sober in my 20’s has taught me many lessons and I am excited to share them with you here.
